At 9am, the day after St Nicholas, Akshara Viswanathan hopes to receive her greatest gift. She will be defending her doctoral thesis on metal-poor stars in the Milky Way. Her supervisors are Else Starkenburg and Amina Helmi. The venue will be the Academiee building of the University of Groningen.
