Hunting elusive excess variance in big LOFAR data (PhD defense Hyoyin Gan, RUG)
On October 6, Hyoyin Gan received her doctorate from the University of Groningen for research on new analysis methods for astronomical images. The method Gan developed is also promising for clustering medical images. The supervisor is Léon Koopmans. Co-supervisor is Michael Wilkinson.
Hyoyin Gan conducted her PhD research at the Department of Astronomy at the Kapteyn Institute with funding through a European Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND grant. She is now working as a postdoc at the University of British Columbia.
