Deep learning in high angular-resolution radio interferometry (PhD defense Samira Rezaei, RUG)
On Monday morning, June 27, Samira Rezaei Badafshani will defend her dissertation on the intersection of radio astronomy and computer science at the University of Groningen. Her supervisors are John McKean and Michael Biehl.
Samira's thesis has addressed several challenges of the big data era in the field of high angular-resolution radio astronomy using machine learning algorithms. She says: "The methodologies presented in this thesis were designed with the aim of minimizing the need for human interactions, while still providing robust results."
