Astronomy on Tap: Travelling back in time & the sun (online, in het Engels)
Astronomy on Tap Groningen will be held online at Monday 5 October at 20:00. Speakers are Anne Hutter and Francisco Tapia.
Anne Hutter: Travelling Back in Time
Anne Hutter is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Groningen. She focuses her studies on the Epoch of Reionization, trying to understand the very first galaxies that formed in our Universe and how they have impacted its evolution. She will talk to us about how she travels to the past to do her research.
Francisco Tapia: The Sun, our nearest star
Francisco Tapia is currently doing his PhD at the Institute of Radioastronomy and Astrophysics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. His main research topic is stellar atmospheres in solar-type stars. He studies the stars through radio telescopes that observe at millimetre and sub-millimetre wavelengths to improve the theoretical models, studies the atmospheric layer called the chromosphere, and understand the physical conditions under which its existence is possible.
