Astronomy on Tap: How to survive on Mars (Leiden, in English)
The next Astronomy on Tap Leiden will take place on Monday 27 February at Grand Café de Burcht at 20:00 CET. Visit the event for a night of astronomy with talks from Jasmina Lazendic-Galloway and Rickbir Bahia. They will tell us about how to survive on Mars and the search for life on Mars. As always, there will be fun games where you could win cool science prizes.
Jasmina Lazendic-Galloway: How to survive on Mars
Jasmina Lazendic-Galloway is an astrophysicist and educationalist, working at the Eindhoven University of Technology and holding an adjunct position at Monash University (Australia). Her work ranges from exploding stars and molecular clouds to planetary habitability and science education. She is a passionate science communicator interested in using astronomy and space exploration to address global challenges. In this talk, she will take the audience on a journey through Mars and share insights into how attempting to live on Mars could make you look after Earth better.
Rickbir Bahia: Preparing to Search for Life on Mars
Rickbir Bahia is a European Space Agency Research Fellow who specialises in the analysis of planetary surfaces in our solar system. His research covers a wide range of topics, from studying rivers on Mars, Earth, and Titan, to analysing avalanches on the Moon. As a member of the ExoMars Rover Team, he is involved in the search for signs of past or present life on Mars. In this talk, he will delve into the possibility of life on Mars and the ways in which the ExoMars Rover plans to find evidence of it.

Astronomy on Tap Leiden starts at 20:00 sharp, so please arrive earlier to enter the bar, save a seat, and grab a drink. The organisation is not planning to stream the event live, but they will be uploading a recording of the talks on our YouTube channel after the event.
